Project 3: Upcycling unwanteds

Material: buckles, sliver cardboard roll

Rationale: Buckle can be an waste in clothes industry. The traditional way of using it was to use it as the fastener or tool for adjusting belts' length. My design was to make it a bag because there are many ways of connecting buckles, and the pattern of buckle is quite good. My way of connecting the buckle is like kniting, use the cardboard band as the thread. The reason of choosing sliver cardboard is that it can hold up the bag and the color is good. Only stapler was used to connect the band.

  1. I love how she used buckles to make bag. The design is very nice and the the colour seem to match very well with the silver cardboard. Just one concern, if you use cardboard I think it will break very easily when it gets wet!

  2. i love the way you put the buckles together, it create an very beautiful patten. but i was wondering is the cardboard can support whole bag? i think by change cardboard to other hard materials will be better.

  3. I love the aesthetics of your bag, the texture creates for an interesting patterned bag. However, I'm unsure about the strength and durability of the silver paper, maybe you could have used old straps from bags or the plastic straps used to hold together newspaper/magazine bundles. Well Done!

  4. The combination of using bag buckles and silver cardboard roll makes it looks very interesting and intricate. The way you made it too is very smart but like the others said, you should change the cardboard material into something more durable and long lasting like fabric otherwise the bag would last very long.

  5. Buckles is a nice idea and also with the silver cardboard roll. The materials create a nice texture to it but i think you need something more durable as cardboard wont last
